2015 Craythorne Parade Home Kitchen

On the opposite end of the Great Room is the kitchen, otherwise known as the heart of the home. To carry in the craftsman/farmhouse design in this space, and give it the WOW factor all kitchens should have, I went with a custom range hood, tile back splash, farmhouse sink and spectacular pendant lighting.

Cabinetry is my weakness. To me it is more important than the furnishings in the home, because of the cost, and the ease, to change out at a later date.

I love all white kitchens, especially white cabinets. However, with the budget I was working with, that was not a possibility. A great compromise is doing your island the accent color (white) in this case and leaving the built in cabinets a stain grade, which is typically 60% cheaper than a painted (white) cabinet. This still gives the look of a custom kitchen at a fraction of the cost.

Another stunning feature in this Craythorne home, is the tall ceilings through out. This allowed us to take the cabinetry all the way up to the 9ft ceilings, and gives you ample storage (by using a step ladder of course), you can add in fun design elements too, like the glass windows at the top of the cabinets doors, to display decor.

The beautiful lighting throughout this home, including the pendant lights over the island are Capital Lighting purchase from Lighting Design.

The bar stools tie in with the Woven Grass Chair in the Dining Nook and were purchase from my furniture supplier. If you're interested in ordering them, please contact me.  The rug was purchased from Home Goods.

A must for this kitchen was to incorporate a farmhouse sink. The contrast of the white sink and the dark cabinetry is eye catching. The beautiful chrome faucet is like adding the perfect piece of jewelry to an outfit, and ties in the cabinet hardware.

To keep things light, I went with a light colored granite and white subway back splash. Above the cook top, I used a natural stone colored hexagon tile to add more interest. This home also features under cabinet lighting and accent lighting in the upper cabinet windows. It looks absolutely stunning at night. The cabinet and hardware pulls were picked out at North Davis Cabinetry.

The counter top decor was kept simple with a few blue and white vases from Home Goods, Topiary from Tai Pan, Yellow wreath from Down to Earth, Decorative crab plate from Home Goods, Small olive plants and Lemons from a wholesale floral company, Cook book stand from World Market, White Pitcher, Glass Bottles and White Strainer from IKEA, and a Wood Slice Disc from JoAnn's.

The Dining Nook

Right off the Kitchen and Great Room is the perfect Dining Nook. I love all the natural light in this area of the home! The Nook boasts a custom built in bench to provide plenty of seating. This space was a fun place to showcase texture and color by adding an upholstered cushion by West Creek Design in a blue and cream herringbone fabric, and pillows from Home Goods and Pottery Barn, to make it cozy.

We also mixed up the color and texture with the seating by adding two upholstered blue chairs with white piping and a woven grass chair with a white cushion, all from Home Goods. The Kitchen Table is a perfect warm shade of brown to tie in with the cabinets and was purchase through my furniture rep. Contact me about pricing/purchasing this table if interested. Another tall topiary in a natural woven basket accents the space along with a striped navy and cream rug found at Target. The whole space is grounded by a gorgeous drum shade light fixture from Capital Lighting purchased through Lighting Design.

The tablescape brings a smile to my face every time I see it. It was also another fun way to bring in color and character. The runner is from Home Goods. The 2 lanterns, metal chargers and artichokes are from a wholesale floral shop. The glass candlestick are from my personal collection. The white dishes are from IKEA. The blue dishes are from Pottery Barn. The White linen napkins are Kate Spade. The gingham napkins are from Target last year.

I can't wait to share the beautiful Master Bed and Bath, along with the sweet girls bedrooms tomorrow, see ya then....
