2015 "Craythorne Home" Great Room/Kitchen

I wanted anyone who walks into this space to feel at home. To start I focused on the main focal point in the Family Room/Great Room, the beautiful traditional brick fireplace. I love how the floor to ceiling brick is the star of the show, accented by a simple lightly glazed white mantel and built-ins. The brick is actually the same brick we used for the exterior. A off white grout is a great contrast to the "Charleston" brick and ties in the cabinetry nicely, as well as carries our craftsman/farmhouse theme into this space. The custom built-ins and mantel by North Davis Cabinetry offers plenty of storage for the electronic components and balance out this focal wall.

I chose to use symmetry in decorating both sides of the built-ins with mirrors, baskets, and lamps from Home Goods. The faux hydrangeas are one of my favorites and are from Michael's. To throw the balance off just a hair, I used books on this side from a local thrift store with the covers removed, and last but not least (my favorite) is the rocking bird from West Elm.

A glass jar from TJ Maxx was used on this side of the built-in's.

I love to bring in natural decor when ever I can. These fun aspen tree limbs are from my dear friend Amber's tree that she cut down earlier this year. The wire basket is from Home Goods.

One of the best tools, I use as a designer, who is working with a very specific budget, is to do the HIGH/LOW. Meaning splurge on your budget for a few key pieces, and then shop for accessories and smaller items with the rest.

For the furniture in the Family Room/Great Room I custom ordered the couch, love seat, chair and ottoman from England Furniture. The linen fabric with the navy twill piping and tufting is such a gorgeous feature. I covered the chair and ottoman in opposite fabrics to contrast the couches. Both were finished off with Ralph Lauren Pillows and throws purchased at TJ Maxx.

I have a wonderful retailer who offers lots of fabric samples to choose from, and is a retailer for England Furniture. Feel free to contact me if you're interested in purchasing from England and I can refer you to him.

The side tables are Ashley Furniture, and match the dark walnut kitchen cabinetry. They have a beautiful leg design that is one of my favorite features. The lamps and decor on the side tables are from Home Goods, local thrift stores, and Tai Pan. The natural diamond area rug that grounds the sitting arrangement is from Target. Again, the beautiful ceramic wood tile is the perfect choice, carrying through this space, and tying in both the dark and light cabinetry and furnishings. The wall color for the entire house is Sherwin Williams "Agreeable Gray".

I came across this clock while shopping for lighting at Lighting Design. It is the perfect scale to fill a rather large wall in between the kitchen and family room.

A tall topiary and basket from Home Goods, and the perfect blue and white striped Riviera Curtains from Pottery Barn frame the beautiful family room windows.

On the opposite wall, I placed a matching console table from Ashley Furniture (Check out the gorgeous legs) topped with fun accessories. The frames and baskets underneath are from Home Goods, faux greenery and pot are from Tai Pan and the metal orb is from a wholesale floral supply company. One of my favorite quintessential farmhouse decor pieces, are the rustic wood/glass vases made by my good friend C.C. Creations. These gems are also something that can be ordered. Contact me for pricing.

On tomorrow's blog post I'll be highlighting the fun built in Dining Nook and beautiful custom Kitchen. See you then.
